EIKEN Grades
EIKEN is a suite of tests administered on a pass/fail basis in seven bands called "grades."
The grades are designed to provide well-defined steps that can act as both motivational goals and concrete measures of English ability as learners move through the spectrum of commonly recognized ability levels.
Each grade is a separate test with a unique set of test items and tasks designed for that ability level.
Did you know: As a service to learners and teachers, EIKEN is offered as an "open" test. Test materials are used only once and then disclosed to the public. Examinees are permitted to keep their test booklets, and a full set of new items is developed for each administration.
